People: From catwalk to perp walk
Supermodel Naomi Campbell pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault Tuesday for hitting her maid with a cell phone during an argument over a pair of missing jeans.
“I threw a cell phone in the apartment. The cell phone hit Ana (Scolavino),” Campbell told Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Robert Mandelbaum. “This was an accident, because I did not intend to hit her.”
In exchange for her guilty plea, Campbell must pay Scolavino’s medical expenses of $363, do five days of community service and attend a two-day anger management program.
Outside the courthouse, her lawyer, David Breitbart, said he didn’t want Campbell exposed to stalkers, so “I’m hopeful she can do the community service indoors.”
The British model has a history of problems with employees dating back to 2000. Several have filed lawsuits accusing her of assault.
For court, Campbell wore stiletto heels, a tight-fitting black dress and waist-length jacket and several gold chains around her neck.
A ‘Dirt’ dust-up
Jennifer Aniston is rejoining Courteney Cox in prime time, but this time they’re anything but friends.
Aniston guest stars in the season finale of the new FX show “Dirt,” playing a rival magazine editor of Cox’s ruthless tabloid queen.
The episode, airing March 27, marks the first time the two “Friends” stars have worked together since the long-running sitcom went off the air in 2004.
Pregnant pause
Marcia Cross, who’s expecting twins, is taking a break from “Desperate Housewives.”
Cross will be seen in the next two or three episodes of “Housewives,” and may be back for the end of the season. Her doctor has agreed to let her film a few scenes in her own home while on bed rest.
Series creator Marc Cherry says her absence will open up more screen time for Nicolette Sheridan: “She’s going to have a fascinating romance with someone who already lives on the street, and we’re going to be meeting her son that was mentioned in the pilot.”
Barefaced liar?
Wondering why British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen accepted his Golden Globe for best actor in a movie musical or comedy on Monday as himself, not in character as Borat?
“I woke up one morning, and I was quite hung over,” Cohen explained. “I accidentally shaved my mustache off, and I had no choice.”
