Britney Spears no longer wants him as her husband and audiences have been cool to his attempt at a rap music career, but Kevin Federline has Nationwide on his side.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance, known for its “On Your Side” slogan, announced Wednesday it will run a Super Bowl ad starring Federline.

It will show him rapping in a slick music video – only to reveal he’s just daydreaming while slinging fries at a fast-food joint.

Nationwide’s “Life Comes at You Fast” ad campaign previously featured Fabio and M.C. Hammer.

“No one has personified ‘Life Comes at You Fast’ in the media better than Federline,” a Nationwide executive says.

Spears filed for divorce from Federline in November, and his debut album, “Playing With Fire,” had dismal sales.

“I felt that it was a good time to come out and make fun of myself,” Federline says.

However, he adds: “I’m changing a lot of things in my life. Just be ready for me in 2007.”

Urban renewal

Country singer Keith Urban has completed his treatment for alcohol abuse and will ease back onto the stage with a short run of club shows in the United Kingdom and Germany in April, his spokesman said.

Urban checked himself into rehab just before his latest album, “Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing,” came out in November.

It still reached No. 1 on the country chart and spawned two hit singles.

No sleeping for her

Diana Ross says she’s been so busy that she hasn’t had time to see the Golden Globe-winning film “Dreamgirls,” which is loosely based on her life as a Motown starlet.

“Yes, I’ve heard a lot about it. I’m going to see it with my lawyers,” she joked during an appearance on David Letterman‘s “Late Show.”

Ross is going to be a mentor on “American Idol” and is planning a world tour in March to promote her new album, “I Love You.”

Shades of ‘Grey’s’

Isiah Washington reopened some wounds at Monday’s Golden Globes by denying he used a homophobic slur during a dispute involving “Grey’s Anatomy” castmate T.R. Knight.

Knight is sticking by his story, and cast member Katherine Heigl was fuming at a Globes after-party.

“I don’t think (Washington) means it the way he comes off,” she said. “But T.R. is my best friend. … I will use every ounce of energy I have to take you down if you hurt his feelings.”

Paris to Vienna

It’s Paris Hilton‘s turn to be the belle of Vienna’s exclusive Opera Ball.

Each year, wealthy Austrian businessman Richard Lugner invites a celebrity to accompany him and his wife to the gala event, and has tabbed Hilton this year.

Previous guests include Carmen Electra, Pamela Anderson, Andie MacDowell, Geri Halliwell and Grace Jones.
