Top 25 Men: Hot-shooting Vandy rolls back Tide

Shan Foster scored 27 points and Vanderbilt beat No. 10 Alabama 94-73 Wednesday night in Nashville, Tenn., with its best shooting game this season.

The Commodores (12-6, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) hit a season-high 15 3-pointers in 28 attempts and shot 58 percent overall in pulling off their second home upset of a ranked team in eight days. They beat then-No. 16 Tennessee 82-81 on Jan. 10.

The Tide (14-3, 1-2) hasn’t won in Memorial Gym since 1990.

(2) Wisconsin 69, Purdue 64: At Madison, Wis., Michael Flowers scored 15 points to lead the Badgers (18-1, 4-0 Big Ten) past the Boilermakers (13-6, 2-3).

(4) North Carolina 77, (19) 55: At Clemson, S.C., Brandan Wright had 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting and the Tar Heels (16-2, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) recovered from the loss that knocked it from No. 1 with a victory over the Tigers (17-2, 3-2).

(7) Ohio State 73, Northwestern 41: At Columbus, Ohio, Mike Conley Jr. scored a career-high 17 points and Jamar Butler added 16 as the Buckeyes (15-3, 3-1 Big Ten) pulled away to defeat the Wildcats (10-8, 0-5).

(16) Louisiana State 62, Mississippi 55: At Baton Rouge, La., Tasmin Mitchell and Terry Martin combined for 22 second-half points to lead the Tigers (13-4, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) to a victory over the Rebels (12-6, 1-3).

(18) Butler 67, Youngstown State 39: At Indianapolis, Pete Campbell scored a season-high 17 points and the Bulldogs (16-2, 4-1 Horizon League) used its outside shooting to beat the Penguins (8-11, 3-4).

Villanova 102, (20) Notre Dame 87: At Villanova, Pa., freshman Scottie Reynolds scored 27 points, Curtis Sumpter had 21 and Dante Cunningham added 19 to lead the Wildcats (12-5, 2-3 Big East) to a victory over the Irish (15-3, 3-2).

Auburn 83, (22) Tennessee 80: At Auburn, Ala., Quan Prowell made four free throws in the final 22 seconds and the Tigers (12-7, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) rallied from a 14-point deficit over the final 10 minutes in a win over the Volunteers (13-5, 1-2).

Florida State 82, (23) Virginia Tech 73: At Tallahassee, Fla., Al Thornton scored all of his 27 points in the second half and the Seminoles (13-5, 1-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) defeated the Hokies (13-5, 3-1).
