Northeast A League

Jennesa Miller and Carley Heinen scored 21 points apiece as Freeman (12-3, 4-1) slid past Chewelah 75-71 in overtime Friday in Chewelah to take over sole possession of second-place in the league standings.

The Cougars’ Kelsey Schalock nailed two free throws at the end of regulation to send it to overtime.

Nikki Nelson finished with a game-high 30 points for Chewelah (10-4, 2-3).

In other league action, Ashley McDonald scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Newport (5-9, 1-4) edged visiting Kettle Falls (2-9, 0-5) 60-57. Alicia Smith added 12 points for the Grizzlies, who led 35-22 at halftime. Chelsea Brisbois led the Bulldogs with 17 points. … Meagan Teade scored 20 points and Lauren Mellor added 10 points and nine rebounds as Colfax (13-2, 5-0) beat visiting Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 56-46. Kia Gibson scored 15 points to lead the Eagles (10-5, 3-2).

Freshman Kellie McCann-Smith scored 25 points, including 15 in the decisive third quarter, and added six rebounds, five assists and five steals as Clarkston (9-4, 6-1) topped visiting Riverside 64-45. Misty Atkinson added 14 points and nine boards for the Bantams. Meagan Donaghy tallied 11 points to lead Riverside (5-7, 2-5). … Richelle Daily scored 14 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked six shots as Medical Lake (5-8, 2-5) edged visiting Colville 33-29. Moe Stuart led Colville (1-11, 0-7) with 10 points. … Anna Albrecht scored 16 points and Katie Hinrichs added 12 as Pullman (13-0, 7-0) topped host Cheney 45-34. Ky Lee Schmunk scored a team-high 14 points, leading Lind-Ritzville (10-6, 9-3) to a 38-34 win over visiting Reardan (12-4, 8-4). The Broncos outscored the Indians 13-3 in the second quarter, building a 23-11 halftime lead. Brook Ferderer tallied 15 points to lead Reardan. … Shawn Hennessey and Laura Davis scored 12 points each, guiding Liberty (14-1, 11-0) to a 54-14 rout of host Odessa (0-13, 0-11).
