NIC top scorer kicked off team
Brian Morris, who leads North Idaho College men’s basketball in scoring and rebounding, has been dismissed from the team, coach Jared Phay said.
“I’ve been disappointed with his academic effort and just his attitude with the team in general has really been getting poor,” Phay said. “I encouraged him to stay in school, but that’s his decision.”
Morris, a 6-foot-8 forward, was averaging about 19 points and 8.5 rebounds. He was suspended for one game after NIC returned from Christmas break. Morris transferred to NIC from Southern Methodist University, where he averaged 7.2 points last season.NIC entertains co-Scenic West Athletic Conference leader Salt Lake on Friday and Saturday.

Big QB, TE choose EWU
Quarterback Andrew Schumacher from Churchill High School in Eugene, Ore., has made an oral commitment to play football at Eastern Washington.
He should have a big tight end to which to throw.
Cody Pollock, a 6-foot-6, 255-pound tight end out of Fife High School, has also made the commitment.
Schumacher, a 6-5, 190-pounder, was a three-year starter at Churchill. He was named the Midwestern League MVP, throwing for more than 2,000 yards.
Pollock earned all-league honors after catching 18 passes for 370 yards and five touchdowns. He was also an all-league punter and defensive end, and an all-area tight end.
The commitments do not become official until the players sign letters of intent. This year’s letter of intent day is Feb. 7.
