Annual dinner, auction will aid Salk music department

From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Salk Middle School, 6411 N. Alberta St., is hosting its 12th annual spaghetti feed and silent auction.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 and again at 6:30. Bidding for the silent auction will be held throughout the evening.

Items featured in the auction include Valentine’s Day and spa-themed gift baskets, a Doubletree Hotel package, and autographed Washington State University basketballs.

Dinner prices are $5 for age 13 to adult and $4 for ages 5 to 12. Children age 4 and under are admitted free. $20 is the maximum price for an immediate family. All proceeds will benefit Salk Middle School’s music department.

Food for Fines

Beginning Thursday and continuing through Feb. 28, the Whitman County Library, 102 S. Main St., Colfax, is holding the seventh annual Food for Fines drive.

Nonperishable food can be exchanged for library fines up to $10 by library users.

Food may be donated at all 13 library branches, and food will be distributed to the food bank in the community where it was collected.

Fruit of the Vine wine tasting

On Friday the third annual Fruit of the Vine wine-tasting benefit will be held in the Grand Pennington Ballroom at the Davenport Hotel from 7 to 10 p.m.

Enjoy numerous fine wines, cheeses and coffee, as well as chocolate flowing from a fountain in the center of the ballroom.

The evening’s event also will include a raffle featuring nine different magnum wines, decanters and Riedel glassware.

Tickets are $50 per person. All proceeds will benefit St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School.
