Suspect in 23-month-old’s death turns self in to police

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

Police arrested a Lewiston man Friday in their investigation into the beating death of a 23-month-old boy.

About 4 p.m., Stacey Lewis Grove, 28, turned himself in on an outstanding arrest warrant, according to a press release Saturday from the Lewiston Police Department.

Police sought Grove on suspicion of first-degree murder following the death of Kyler Martin, also of Lewiston.

Martin died at a Spokane hospital in July. An autopsy found that his death was caused by blunt force trauma, according to another release from the Police Department.

According to an obituary printed in the Lewiston Tribune, Kyler was born Aug. 4, 2004, to Lisa Nash and Todd Martin. He was known for his energy and “chubby, mischievous smile.”

Grove has been booked into the Nez Perce County Jail where he is being held pending an arraignment, police said.
