Charge Corbin Park area for alley pickup
Today’s article in Your Voice (June 28) on Corbin Park trash collection caught my attention. Gina McKenzie’s claim that it (garbage collection along streets rather than alleys) is an inconvenience and eyesore really got to me.
Corbin Park residents should join the rest of the city.
When I lived on East Mission Avenue, we lost alley service more than seven years ago and had to go curbside.
Most of the city is on curbside pickup.
What makes Corbin Park special? “Historic neighborhood” just means it is an old neighborhood. So what?
Trash collection has been around many years, too.
I live in a house now where there is no alley, like thousands of others in the city.
We always have had to drag the bin from our backyard to the curb and run the risk that crooks would notice it out there all day. (Actually, I believe burglars tend to prowl through alleys.)
If Corbin Park residents want special treatment, add a surcharge to their bills to cover all costs related to that service.
I don’t want to pay for them.
