THE SLICE

Here’s my idea for an Inland Northwest children’s story.

(I’ll tell you how it starts. Your job is to find a little kid who can come up with an ending.)

There was this little fish named Cuthbert. He and his sister, Fruity Pebbles, lived in a big lake in Idaho.

One insanely hot summer day, a big airplane swooped down and landed on the lake. It proceeded to suck many gallons of water into a huge tank. Without knowing what was happening, Cuthbert found himself swimming in that tank.

Then the airplane took off. Soon it was flying low over a forest fire. With a sudden whoosh, it dumped out the water.

Cuthbert felt himself falling toward the burning trees. But, lucky for him, he landed with a splash in a mountain stream.
