In brief: Business workshops planned

Area entrepreneurs and business people are invited to two series of workshops on growing businesses.

The Idaho Small Business Development Center is holding the seminars. They will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. next Thursday and Aug. 23 at the North Idaho College Workforce Training Center, 525 W. Clearwater Loop in Post Falls.

At the end of the second workshop, participants can apply for a $20,000 software grant.

Each workshop costs $49, including all materials, a continental breakfast and lunch. Registration and prepayment are required. The first seminar is a prerequisite to the second.

SPIRIT LAKE

Join the Ride for Life

Saturday is the seventh annual Ride for Life. Organizers anticipate this will be the biggest turnout of Spokane and North Idaho motorcyclists as they ride to Priest Lake. Proceeds from the event will benefit the area’s cancer foundations.

Tickets are $20 per person and includes lunch, T-shirt and ride pin. Tickets can be purchased at several area businesses. Sign-in begins at 9 a.m. and riders will take off from eight different locations throughout the Inland Northwest at 10, gathering in Spirit Lake for a group ride to Priest Lake.

Harley night at stadium

July 21 at Avista Stadium will be Harley Night as the Spokane River Chapter of the Harley Owner’s Group sponsored by Shumate Harley-Davidson will be special guests of the Spokane Indians Baseball Club.

H.O.G members will ride their motorcycles around the warning track as part of the opening ceremony. Prizes will be awarded after each inning and special events are planned throughout the evening. Tickets for the ball game range from $5 to $9 per seat and can be purchased online at www.spokaneindiansbaseball.com.
