In brief: Green n’ Bluz fest Saturday
The fourth annual Green n’ Bluz fest is scheduled Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Spokane Valley Eagles, 16801 E. Sprague Ave.
The public is invited to hear some rockin’ blues and raise awareness of environmental groups doing work in the Inland Northwest. Tickets are $15 in advance from Tickets West or $17 at the door.
Scheduled to perform are: Lindell Reason; The Longnecks; Waukon; Papa Glenn and the Border Run Blues Band; Studebaker John and the Hawks.
Sponsors include Selkirk Conservation Alliance, KYRS – Thin Air Radio and The Lands Council.
There will be free activities for children from 5 to 7 p.m. Also featured will be repurposing expert Kate Jackson.

Card artist on the Palouse
Jim Lisk, caricaturist and artist for the Leanin’ Tree Card Co., will help Saturday to rededicate the wooden statue stolen last year at On Sacred Grounds: Coffee, Tea and Specialty Shoppe in Valleyford.
Lisk will appear at 11 a.m. as part of the Artists Loose On The Palouse Art and Craft Festival at the coffee house. Lynda Latte was abducted last December. Lisk has created a likeness of Lynda Latte. Shop owner Elaine Rising said thanks to the generosity of neighbors and friends, “sisters” Lottie and Lolita make an eye-catching two-some on the Palouse Highway.
The festival is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and features 20 artists and vendors.

The Miss Spokane Valley Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show will be held Aug. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mirabeau Park Hotel. For information or tickets call 924-4994.

Craft day for young fair artists
Youths who want to enter a craft in the Spokane Interstate Fair, Sept. 7-16, can get some help next month from the fair’s Junior Advisory Board.
The board, composed of youths from 17 area high schools, will conduct a Pre-Fair Kids Craft Day Aug. 4 for ages 5 through 18. Participants in the free event at the fairgrounds will make crafts that include wood projects, tie-dyed T-shirts, beaded items and “bee pal treasure keepers.”
Materials and instruction will be provided.
The event will be noon to 3 p.m. in the Agriculture Building.
Registration forms, due Monday, are available by calling the fair office at 477-2770. Completed forms may be faxed to 477-8926 or mailed to 404 N. Havana St., Spokane Valley, WA 99202-4663.
