A store offering custom furniture and accessories, design services and gifts is opening in a new building at 13th Avenue and Grand Boulevard.

Artios Home will offer three floors of furniture, artwork, gifts and personal accessories, including a full line of Vera Bradley travel and handbags.

This is the second store for Rand and Katrina Rogers, who moved here from San Antonio, Texas, six years ago. The couple opened Artios Home in the Wandermere West shopping center last fall.

Bill Sleeth of W.R. Sleeth Realty, who handled the lease arrangement with Levi McCormick of Clark Pacific Real Estate Co., said the two-story building has a basement and a total of 7,055-square feet.

The south store will be similar in that it will carry a contemporary mix of products, including Franz hand-sculpted and painted china, but at twice the size. It will also carry Nicole Miller furniture and a full line of gourmet cookware, Katrina Rogers said.

Artios has staff designers and its own contractors to handle renovations. Customers can create their own look by choosing among 2,000 fabrics and leathers in hundreds of styles of furniture.

Artwork is the store’s top selling item, Rand Rogers said, and the store features paintings, clocks and other pieces by local artists.

The business is trying to capture some of the customers who formerly shopped at Joel Inc., he said. Joel was a specialty home and gift store that operated in the area for 55 years but closed two years ago.

The south side store is expected to open in mid-August.

Tracy Jewelers is building a new store

A business with a 57-year history in the Spokane Valley is building a new store at 106 N. Evergreen Road.

Maureen Tracy, daughter of Patrick Tracy, the store’s founder, said she recently purchased land for the 6,800-square foot building, which will house the jeweler and one or two lease tenants.

The project will cost more than $1 million, including the land, she said, and include a 3,500-square foot showroom, certified gem laboratory and special vault.

The business, which is currently located at 15412 E. Sprague Ave., sells upscale jewelry, gems and watches from designers such as Tacori, Longines, JB Star and Verragio, as well as custom pieces made on-site.

Wolfe Architectural Group of Spokane is designing the building and TW Clark Construction LLC is the contractor, she said.

The store will accommodate 25 percent more inventory and should open in November.
