Carillon concerts

The final two concerts in the summer series at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will be held this week.

There will be a special concert Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. by cathedral carillonneur Andrea McCrady for participants walking the outdoor labyrinth.

The final weekly concert begins at 7 p.m. Thursday with guest performer Lisa Lonie. She is the carillonneur at St. Thomas’ Church in Whitemarsh, Pa., and has performed around the world.

The concert is outdoors and will be held rain or shine. Those attending are invited to bring a blanket or lawn chairs and picnic dinner. Admission is free.

Family movie night

Liferoads Church will host a free viewing of “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” for the community at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

A free barbecue will be held in the church parking lot beginning at 6. Free popcorn will be available during the movie, and other items will be available for purchase.

Outdoor service

The Metaline Falls (Wash.) Congregational United Church of Christ will host an outdoor community worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Metaline Park picnic shelter on the Pend Oreille River.

A potluck will follow the ecumenical service. The church will provide lemonade and root beer floats. Those attending will need to bring their own table setting.

There will be no worship service at the church that day.
