Crews conducting disaster drill at Geiger
A Homeland Security drill will take place in Spokane at 8:15 this morning.
The Washington Military Department and local jurisdictions are conducting the exercise at Geiger Field. Members of the Washington National Guard and local first responders will practice their skills during a simulated emergency.
The exercise, lasting about four hours, will include a mass casualty simulation and require on-scene decontamination to mitigate a chemical threat.
The drill is part of a larger statewide exercise called Regional Response 2007 designed to help local emergency response organizations and federal agencies practice handling large-scale multijurisdictional disasters.
