Benson will be missed
Former Eastern Washington University volleyball coach Wade Benson has provided 10 years of leadership, superior training, competition and emotion not just to the young women of the area but to the entire community.
Under his guidance, he helped established the Spokane Splash Volleyball Club, which has gone on to win numerous championships on the local, national and international arenas of the sport.
With his efforts more than 100 young women have received collegiate athletic and academic scholarships to Division I, II and III and NAIA Universities in more than 15 states.
His passion and intense knowledge of the game are his rules of success and he has the ability to teach the young women he coaches how to make the most of their athletic ability and how to work as a team.
His accomplishments at the collegiate level guided EWU to be one of the most consistently, successful Division I teams in the Northwest year after year.
While we wish Wade and his family success and happiness at Auburn University we hold the hope that we can welcome him back someday into our community as a coach, a leader and a friend.
