Auditions
“South Pacific” – Spokane Civic Theatre, Monday and Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. at the theater, 1020 N. Howard. Auditioners must memorize a verse and a chorus of a song from a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical other than “South Pacific” and bring sheet music. There will also be cold readings from the script. Needed: 10-12 women ages 18-60, 12-16 men ages 18-65, one boy age 6-10 and one girl age 8-12. Performance dates: Sept. 29-Oct. 28. Call (509) 325-1413.
“The Laramie Project” – StageWest Community Theatre, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m., and Aug 4 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Cheney City Hall Auditorium, 609 Second St. Needed are women and men of all ages. Performances will be in October. Call (509) 235-4509.
“High School Musical” – Spokane Children’s Theatre, Aug. 5, 4 p.m. and Aug. 6, 6 p.m. at the Spokane Community College Lair Auditorium, 1810 N. Greene St. Needed: 20-plus boys and girls to appear high school age, one adult man and one adult woman. Auditioners should prepare a one-minute song and wear comfortable clothes for dancing. Art Workshops for Children – Free workshops for grades K-12 at Colville’s Rendezvous Days in Yep Kanum Park, Aug. 3-4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classes in sunprints, sand painting and recycled art mobiles begin every hour on the hour. Call (509) 684-3002.
Summer Art Smart – Create Place in Newport is presenting a series of workshops for kids with hand-on experiences. The session for ages 5-9 is Aug. 6-9 from 9-11 a.m. each day. Ages 9-14 will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. daily. The cost is $32, plus $6 for supplies. Call (509) 447-9277 to register.

Call for arts groups
Season Arts Preview – The Spokane Folklore Society is looking for groups who want to share information about upcoming events and season offerings in conjunction with the Spokane Symphony’s free concert in Comstock Park on Labor Day. No merchandise may be sold. Booths are $40, plus $12.50 for an additional table. The deadline is Aug. 8. Call (509) 443-2710.
