WNBA: Jackson hits milestone as Storm top Fever
Lauren Jackson picked up Friday night where she left off three days earlier.
Jackson became the youngest and fastest player in WNBA history to reach 4,000 points, and finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds in the Seattle Storm’s 89-75 win over the Indiana Fever in Seattle.
The Storm led by as many as 35.
Lynx 85, Sparks 76: At Minneapolis, Svetlana Abrosimova and Seimone Augustus scored 23 points each and Minnesota beat Los Angeles.
Nicole Ohlde had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Lynx, which led by as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter.
Comets 69, Silver Stars 63: At San Antonio, Tamecka Dixon scored 21 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field, leading Houston to a victory over the Silver Stars.
Tina Thompson had 17 points and eight rebounds for the Comets.
Mercury 98, Sky 96: At Chicago, Diana Taurasi scored 26 points, including the game-winning shot with 5 seconds left, to lift Phoenix over the Sky.
Tangela Smith had 19 points, Kelly Miller scored 17, Cappie Pondexter 16 and Penny Taylor 14 for Phoenix.
Holdsclaw battled depression
The depression Chamique Holdsclaw battled throughout her WBNA career probably played the biggest role in her decision to retire.
Tennessee’s Pat Summitt, Holdsclaw’s college coach, said Holdsclaw first told her she was considering retirement while she was playing with the Washington Mystics.
