Barry Bonds, a free agent after this season, isn’t planning to turn his pursuit of Hank Aaron into a farewell tour.

“Don’t think this will be my last season, as a Giant or in baseball,” Bonds said after hitting his 754th career home run Friday night.

Giants managing partner Peter Magowan declined comment when asked before the game about the prospect of re-signing Bonds for a 16th season, but he repeatedly has stated the team needs to get younger and head in a new direction.

Bonds said he isn’t treating this season like it’s his last in San Francisco.

“My last season is every last year of my contract, and I’ve had a bunch of those seasons,” he said.

Bonds went 0 for 3 Saturday and stayed one home run behind Aaron.

Sadler suspended

Arizona infielder Donnie Sadler was suspended for 50 games after testing positive for a drug of abuse under baseball’s minor league program.

The 32-year-old has played for Boston, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Texas and Arizona in eight major league seasons. He was 0 for 1 this season with the Diamondbacks, who brought him up from Triple-A Tucson of the Pacific Coast on May 11.

La Russa ejected

St. Louis manager Tony La Russa was ejected for the first time this season in the Cardinals’ game against the Milwaukee Brewers for arguing balls and strikes.

La Russa was tossed with two outs in the sixth by third base umpire Greg Gibson, who ruled that pinch-hitter Skip Schumaker went around on a checked swing.

La Russa yelled comments from the dugout and Gibson quickly ejected the veteran manager. La Russa then slowly walked to the plate and confronted Gibson before being separated by crew chief Charlie Reliford.

Clearing the bases

Hoping for more offensive production from their infield, the Houston Astros acquired Ty Wigginton from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for relief pitcher Dan Wheeler. Wigginton was hitting .275 with 16 homers and 49 RBIs in 98 games this season. … Minnesota Twins third-base coach Scott Ullger was injured when he was hit by a foul ball while sitting in the dugout in Minnesota’s game against Cleveland.
