AquaSox snap Indians’ win streak
The Indians’ recent winning streak was capped at five games when Spokane (18-21) lost a tight 5-3 contest to the Everett AquaSox Sunday night at Avista Stadium.
Despite being out-hit 12-8, Everett avoided the series sweep when Jermaine Brock hit a deep fly to left field in the top of the ninth to drive in the two runs.
“The mood was still up on the team even though we lost the last four,” Brock said. “This was a must-win for us because you just can’t get swept like that.”
The Indians kept the game tied at 3-3 all the way until Brock’s hit at the end. Spokane created several opportunities to score, but could never quite capitalize.
The Indians’ best chance came with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, when they loaded the bases with the top of the batting order, to bring Jonathan Greene to the plate.
The AquaSox brought in pitcher Aaron Brown to face Greene.
Brown pitched three balls before he found the strike zone and struck Greene out.
