Area roundup: Mills’ monster day powers LCSC
Beau Mills hit three home runs and drove in eight runs Thursday as Lewis-Clark State College won its 15th NAIA World Series with a 9-2 win over Spring Arbor (Mich.) at Harris Field in Lewiston.
Mills hit a three-run homer in the first, a grand slam in the fourth and a solo shot in the sixth as the Warriors (58-5) won the Series for the sixth time in eight years. Spring Arbor finished 48-5.
Men’s rowing
Gonzaga University’s varsity 4+ boat finished fifth in its time trial and earned a spot in the semifinals at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association national championship at Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
The Bulldogs completed the 2,000-meter course in 5 minutes, 34.81 seconds.
