Let’s hope that Paris is learning

From Wire Reports The Spokesman-Review

The county jail for women where Paris Hilton began serving her sentence Sunday is anything but a country club, other inmates say.

Teresa Jones, 50, called the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., “so filthy it’s worse than skid row.”

At check-in, jailers hand out a pamphlet on infections, which are common, she said, adding: “That place is hell; it’s awful.”

Before turning herself in, Hilton said: “I did have a choice to go to a pay jail. But I declined because I feel like the media portrays me in a way that I’m not, and that’s why I wanted to go to county, to show that I can do it and I’m going to be treated like everyone else.”

She does have a private cell in the “special needs” unit for high-profile inmates.

Hilton arrived late Sunday night – following an appearance at the MTV Movie Awards – to serve 23 days for violating her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

Mom Kathy Hilton says her daughter “will be able to think and reflect and to spend time alone to learn from the experience because in Paris’ life she’s never alone – there’s always a constant chatter around her.”

That goes double for Lindsay

Conspicuous by her absence from the MTV Movie Awards was Lindsay Lohan, who was scheduled as a presenter before she entered rehab for the second time this year.

Now Patti Davis, daughter of former President Ronald Reagan and a recovering addict, has joined in the Lindsay debate.

“It makes me angry when I see how … rehab can be abused as nothing more than a slick PR move,” Davis writes in Newsweek, saying Lohan has the opportunity to find out what she “struggled for years to learn.”

The Holmes fire’s burning

Katie Holmes says she’s having so much fun being a mom that she’s ready to have more kids with Tom Cruise.

Between toddler Suri and Cruise’s two children by ex-wife Nicole Kidman, “We have so many kids in our house, there’s always this wonderful chatter and the great noise of kids,” Holmes, 28, tells “Entertainment Tonight.”

Always their rock

Pro wrestler-turned-action star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has split with his wife of 10 years and mother of his 5-year-old daughter.

“We’ve been fortunate enough to spend the last 17 years together as a couple and look forward to spending the rest our lives together as best friends and business partners,” he says of Dany Garcia Johnson. “We will continue to advance and manage our business interests, our philanthropic efforts and most importantly the raising of our child together.”

Movie offers? He’s all ears

Boxer Mike Tyson, fresh from shooting a music video for the new Bollywood comedy “Fool n Final,” is looking for film roles.

There are similarities between acting and boxing, he says: “In both the fields, in order to survive and triumph, you need focus and to be highly disciplined and determined.”
