The Spokesman-Review

Dodgers 6, Pirates 5: At Pittsburgh, Derek Lowe pitched six no-hit innings until giving up three runs in the seventh and Los Angeles built a five-run lead before holding on to beat the Pirates. Jeff Kent, in a 1-for-26 slump, doubled in a run, Rafael Furcal hit a two-run double and Russell Martin hit his fourth homer in his last five starts as the Dodgers took three of four in the series.

Cubs 7, Brewers 2: At Milwaukee, Alfonso Soriano had five hits, including a three-run homer, to help Chicago beat the Brewers. Carlos Marmol got the win, retiring two batters in the sixth inning in relief of starter Jason Marquis. The win was the second in a row for the Cubs since manager Lou Piniella was ejected on Saturday in Chicago.

Giants 8, Phillies 1: At Philadelphia, Barry Zito allowed only an unearned run over six innings and Ryan Klesko hit a three-run homer to lead San Francisco over the Phillies. Zito pitched out of trouble throughout the afternoon to win his third straight start. Ray Durham hit a two-run home run and Randy Winn, Bengie Molina and Kevin Frandsen each had three hits for the Giants.

Marlins 6, Braves 4: At Atlanta, Wes Obermueller hung around long enough for the win, giving up eight hits and three runs in five innings to lead Florida to the victory over the Braves. Aaron Boone added a two-out, two-run single to punctuate a four-run fifth inning for the Marlins. Rookie Yunel Escabar went 4 for 4 with his first career home run, two singles and a ground-rule double for Atlanta.
