Hearing Thursday on wastewater permit

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

A public hearing on a conditional use permit being sought by Spokane County for a new wastewater treatment plant will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. in the council briefing center in the lower level of City Hall.

The city hearing examiner is scheduled to take testimony from county staff and the public on the proposed $106 million project at the former Stockyards site at Freya Street and Boone Avenue inside city limits.

The project on about 20 acres is expected to expand treatment capacity in the Spokane region. The proposed plant would have to meet stringent pollution limits under the Clean Water Act. The plant’s phosphorus emissions are expected to be among the lowest for such plants nationwide.
