Hometown heroes lead parade

The Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce Commodores took top honors for community float in the Post Falls Days Parade, with the maiden voyage of the Pirates of the Coeur d’Alenes.

It was among more than 70 entries in last weekend’s parade, organizer Kerri Thoreson said.

Tri-Cut Landscaping’s entry was judged best commercial float. And VFW Post 3603 and its honor degree, the Cooties, won the civic float award.

Other awards included:

“Ground Force Manufacturing: best commercial chamber member

“Honker the Clown: best in comedy

“Kootenai County Saddle Club with Queen Tyanne Jacklin: best in equestrian

“1956 Oldsmobile owned by Dennis and Brenda Marshall: best classic car

“Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Primary Children and Cub Scout Pack 250: parade theme awards

“Idaho Army National Guard 145th Brigade Support Battalion: hometown heroes award
