Woman accused of stabbing man three times
Coeur d’Alene police arrested a 38-year-old woman early Wednesday morning on suspicion of stabbing a man three times at a Coeur d’Alene trailer park.
Tonya M. Schiabone, also known as Tonya Cooper, stepped between two men who were fighting over drugs, Coeur d’Alene police said. Schiabone stabbed Joseph L. Lapan once in his head and twice in his armpit, police said.
Lapan, 41, is reportedly in stable condition at Kootenai Medical Center.
The other man in the fight, 40-year-old Jerry B. Standley, was arrested on charges of battery, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said the three were acquaintances. The fight occurred at 110 W. Cosgrove, Coeur d’Alene, police said.
Schiabone is charged with aggravated battery.
