In brief: Deadline Tuesday for Bow Tie tickets

Deadline for ordering tickets to the fourth annual Bow Tie Affair, sponsored by the Spokane Valley Partners Auxiliary, is Tuesday.

The event, which includes a gourmet dinner, fine wine, music, dancing and fabulous door prizes including a new car, is Friday at Mirabeau Park Hotel. Tickets can be purchased by credit card through the Spokane Valley Partners office at 10814 E. Broadway Ave, or phone 927-1153.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with a no-host happy hour followed by dinner at 7. Tickets are $300 per person or $2,400 per table. All proceeds benefit the Spokane Valley Community Center and Food Bank.

Rotarians plan rummage sale

The Spokane Valley Rotary will have a giant rummage sale today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 12319 E. Broadway Ave.

All proceeds go toward youth and senior projects in the Spokane Valley, said Steve Florance of the Valley Rotary and Inland Northwest Insurance.

Community yard sale today

Bargain shoppers will fill Liberty Lake neighborhoods today for the 14th annual community yard sale.

Organizers expect to hand out 5,000 maps for the event that runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There also will be activities in Pavillion Park.

Golf tourney will aid meals effort

Entries are being accepted for Meals on Wheels’ second annual Golf for Good tournament sponsored by Coeur d’Alene Casino at MeadowWood Golf Course.

The $100 entry fee includes golf, cart, prizes, goodies and dinner. The four-person scramble begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Participants are welcome to create their own foursomes.

Local history group forming

Elaine Rising, owner of On Sacred Grounds, invites anyone interested in preserving history to the initial meeting of the Valleyford Historical Group on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

The coffee shop is at 12212 E. Palouse Highway, across from Valleyford Community Church.

In a news release, Rising said, “Come and put your two cents worth into the pot. Let us preserve our history – before it is all lost.”
