Studio drops ‘Grey’s‘ actor

From Wire Reports The Spokesman-Review

Isaiah Washington, the “Grey’s Anatomy” actor who publicly used a homophobic slur earlier this year, will not be returning to the popular ABC series.

A spokeswoman from ABC Studios on Friday confirmed that the studio had not picked up his option.

Washington issued an unhappy statement through his publicist saying, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.”

His future with “Grey’s” was first called into question when reports leaked out in the fall of an on-set altercation with co-star Patrick Dempsey, during which Washington reportedly used the slur in reference to fellow cast member T.R. Knight.

A few months later, in front of reporters backstage at the Golden Globe awards, Washington denied the incident, but repeated the word in the process, causing another uproar.

Fearfully busy

“Spider-Man” director Sam Raimi will help create original Internet shows for FEARnet, a horror and thriller Web site and video-on-demand provider.

Ghost House Pictures, a joint venture involving Raimi, launched the first of two such series, “Devil’s Trade,” on Wednesday. The series of short episodes will follow three teenagers who are cursed after buying an item online.

The two series are the first efforts he has made since directing “Spider-Man 3,” which opened last month.

They’re also a return of sorts for Raimi, who has directed such cult horror classics as “The Evil Dead” and “The Grudge.”

FEARNet is available online, on mobile devices and on Comcast video on demand.
