Community update: Demolition derby will aid nonprofits
Mash ‘em and bash ‘em today, at the seventh annual Josh Ashby Memorial Demolition Derby.
Beginning at 1 p.m., full-size and smaller, import cars will be bent up and crashed at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.
Cost is $7 for ages 13 and older; ages 6 to 12 is $5; and children 5 and under will be admitted free.
All proceeds will benefit the Inland Northwest Candlelighters Cancer Foundation, Hospice of North Idaho, and the Coeur d’Alene chapter of the Bereaved Parents of the United States.

Transitions Golf Scramble
On Thursday, Transitions and the Exchange Club of North Spokane will host the 2007 Transitions Golf Scramble at Indian Canyon Golf Course, 4304 W. West Drive.
Check-in begins at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start at 2.
Dinner will follow the tournament and be catered by the Glover Mansion.
Cost to play in the tournament is $100, which includes a cart, green fees, use of the driving range, and dinner.
Proceeds will benefit area women and children in need at Transitions and provide scholarship funds through the Exchange Club.
