Spokane prep runners pick WSU

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane prep distance runners Sean Coyle, David Hickerson and Peter Miller have signed letters of intent to compete for Washington State University during the 2007-08 season, track and field head coach Rick Sloan announced Tuesday.

Coyle, of Central Valley, finished 10th in the State 4A cross country championship in 2006 and second in the 3,200-meter run at this spring’s state track and field meet.

Hickerson finished fifth at the 2006 State 4A cross country meet while helping Ferris to its fourth consecutive title. Hickerson placed third in the 800 and 1,600 at the state track meet.

Miller, of Shadle Park, placed 20th at last fall’s State 4A cross country meet and 10th in the 3,200 at this spring’s state track championships.

“Coyle, Hickerson and Miller are all part of the Spokane revolution,” said WSU cross country head coach Jason Drake. “They were the three most consistent distance runners all spring out of the Spokane area and we are very excited to have some local kids coming to WSU and keep them on this side of the state.”
