Cubs 5, White Sox 1: At Chicago, Carlos Zambrano matched a career-high with 12 strikeouts, leading the Cubs over the White Sox. Alfonso Soriano homered off Mark Buehrle leading off the game.
Mets 9, Athletics 1: At New York, Tom Glavine pitched into the ninth inning and added two hits and two RBIs as the Mets topped Oakland.
Dodgers 6, Devil Rays 3: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Luis Gonzalez homered and had two RBIs, and Russell Martin hit a two-run single to lead Los Angeles over Tampa Bay.
Tigers 5, Braves 0: At Atlanta, making his first start of the season after a blood clot was removed from his pitching shoulder, Kenny Rogers allowed only two hits in six innings to lead Detroit past the Braves.
Nationals 4, Indians 1: At Washington, Brandon Watson went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs to help the Nationals beat Cleveland. Cristian Guzman had three hits, including a home run for Washington.
Blue Jays 9, Rockies 8 (10): At Toronto, John McDonald hit a two-run single in the 10th inning and Curtis Thigpen scored the winning run on catcher Chris Iannetta’s throwing error, as the Blue Jays beat Colorado.
Marlins 5, Twins 4: At Miami, Hanley Ramirez hit a tie-breaking homer with two outs in the eighth inning, and Florida beat Minnesota. Dan Uggla had three RBIs for Florida.
Brewers 11, Royals 6: At Milwaukee, Corey Hart homered and drove in four runs and rookie Ryan Braun had four hits to help the Brewers beat Kansas City. Jeff Suppan gave up nine hits and five earned runs in five innings for the Brewers.
Rangers 11, Astros 3: At Arlington, Texas, Sammy Sosa hit a home run, the first of three homers Texas hit in an eight-run fifth inning outburst in a victory over Houston.
Red Sox 2, Padres 1: At San Diego, Boston’s Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed one run and five hits, struck out nine and walked five to outpitch Greg Maddux and beat the Padres. Maddux allowed two runs and seven hits.
Orioles 7, Diamondbacks 1: At Phoenix, Brian Roberts had a triple and a homer and three RBIs and Baltimore defeated Arizona.
Yankees 7, Giants 3: At San Francisco, Barry Bonds’ 749th career home run wasn’t enough to overcome four hits and two RBIs for Alex Rodriguez as New York beat the Giants.
Angels 5, Pirates 4 (11): At Anaheim, Calif., Orlando Cabrera homered and had three RBIs, including a run-scoring single in the bottom of the 11th, to lead Los Angeles to a victory over Pittsburgh.
