Eight-run fourth aids Indians’ win

The Spokesman-Review

KEIZER, Ore. – Ian Gac hit two solo homers and three other Indians’ players drove in two runs apiece to lead Spokane to a 13-5 Northwest League baseball victory over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes Sunday night.

Salem-Keizer scored two runs in the second inning and three more in the third to take a 5-1 lead, but Spokane stormed back with eight runs in the fourth.

Victor Barrios homered leading off the fourth and – after two outs had been recorded – delivered a run-scoring triple.

Catcher Jonathan Greene plated Spokane’s first run when he homered leading off the second inning. Gac homered as part of a two-run fifth inning and his second homer came in the eighth inning.

Kyle Murphy, Barrios, Greene, and Gac each drove in two runs.

Fabio Castillo started for Spokane and gave up five runs in five innings but did retire seven of the final nine batters he faced before leaving the game.

Jordan Stewart and Ryan Falcon combined for four shutout innings in relief of Castillo with four strikeouts.
