Royals 12, Angels 4: At Anaheim, Calif., Alex Gordon drove in four runs, three coming on an eighth-inning home run, and Billy Butler hit his first major league homer to lead Gil Meche and Kansas City over Los Angeles. John Buck also went deep for the Royals, who have a chance for their first three-game sweep this season.

Orioles 3, Yankees 2: At Baltimore, Corey Patterson scored the winning run on Scott Proctor’s bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning, giving the Orioles a victory over skidding New York. Johnny Damon homered for the Yankees, who have lost three straight and six of seven.

Indians 8, Athletics 5: At Cleveland, Kelly Shoppach’s pinch-hit three-run homer capped a five-run ninth-inning rally and gave the Indians a win over Oakland. Shoppach’s fourth homer of the season gave the Indians their sixth win in nine games. Oakland has dropped five straight.

Rangers 9, Tigers 6: At Detroit, Marlon Byrd hit a tiebreaking triple in the ninth inning and Texas beat the Tigers after blowing a three-run lead in the eighth. Brad Wilkerson hit a three-run homer and Sammy Sosa had two RBIs for the last-place Rangers, who won for the sixth time in seven games.

Twins 2, Blue Jays 1 (12): At Minneapolis, pinch-hitter Jeff Cirillo’s bases-loaded bloop single in the 12th lifted Minnesota over Toronto.

White Sox 6, Devil Rays 1: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Andy Gonzalez hit his first major league home run and Jim Thome also homered to lead Chicago past Tampa Bay. Thome’s home run was the 482nd of his career.
