Ilene Rosabel Greenwood is celebrating her 100th birthday today. She was born June 30, 1907, in Spokane. She has been a resident of Spokane for 100 years.
She met her husband, Louis, as a little girl, when their families lived next door to each other. They were married in 1924. He died in 1986.
Greenwood worked for the Department of Social and Health Services, and she also volunteered at the Veterans Hospital until the age of 89.
Greenwood attributes staying active to helping her live a long and healthy life. She says she is the oldest living member of the Central Baptist Church, the DAV Auxiliary and Salvation Army Auxiliary.
She says her most memorable moment in the past 100 years is World War II.
