Mets 6-5, Phillies 5-2: At Philadelphia, Carlos Delgado and Jose Reyes homered, Orlando Hernandez pitched six strong innings and New York held on for a victory over the Phillies in the opener of a day-night doubleheader. Carlos Beltran homered twice to help the Mets take the second game.

Cubs 6, Brewers 5: At Chicago, Aramis Ramirez hit a two-out, two-run homer in the ninth inning, capping a three-run rally to put the Cubs over the Brewers.

Pirates 3, Nationals 2: At Pittsburgh, Jose Bautista’s second sacrifice fly of the game drove in the winning run in the ninth, and the Pirates rallied from two runs down to beat Washington.

Cardinals 4, Reds 2: At Cincinnati, Juan Encarnacion’s tiebreaking single in the eighth inning helped St. Louis rally for a victory over the Reds.

Braves 12, Marlins 3: At Miami, Chuck James held the Marlins to a run and four hits and had two hits of his own, and Atlanta toppled Florida. Jeff Francouer had four hits and an RBI for the Braves.

Astros 9, Rockies 8: At Houston, Mark Loretta hit a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth to lift the Astros over Colorado.

Diamondbacks 4, Giants 3 (10): At San Francisco, Miguel Montero hit a solo homer off Brad Hennessey in the 10th to put Arizona over the Giants. Barry Bonds hit his 750th career home run.

Padres 7, Dodgers 6: At Los Angeles, Kevin Kouzmanoff’s three-run homer broke a tie in a six-run fourth inning and San Diego defeated the Dodgers.
