Golf notes

For the past two weeks Liberty Lake Women’s 18-Hole Golf Club members have undertaken a four-person best ball tournament.

Each team was made up of a player from the A, B, C and D flights with the object to better their score during the second outing.

The team of Billie Etter, Louise Newtson, Elsa Metting and Dorothy Womach won by three strokes with a score of 52. Patsy Lynn, Linda Dreher, Raouleen Grimes and Jan Hussey finished second.

In third at 57 were Jeanne Allemand, Myrna Neubauer, Cathy Whitley and Penne Wasser. Fourth with 59 were Caryn McComas, Frances Martin, Reiko Takamori and Linda Sahnow.

Strauss leads Nines

Karen Strauss took top honors during this week’s Liberty Lake Women’s Nine-Hole Golf Club action.

Strauss shot 45 in first flight. Net winners were Sadie Rueckert and Arla Beck with 38.

In second flight, Pat Thompson shot 60 and Shirley Schoenberger netted 39.

Third flight was won by Darlene Reilly with a 61, while Bette Devine had low net of the field with a 34.

It’s Rowley’s week

It was Marcia Rowley‘s turn at the top during weekly Trailhead Ladies Golf Club play.

She shot low gross 47 to win A flight competition. Joy Russell shot 50 to win B flight and Penny Jones shot 60 to win C.

No-handicap golfer Christine McDaniel shot 57 and had one of the three chip-ins during the outing.

Others were by Marge Hutchison and Brenda Miller.

Net winners were Betty Grassl with 33 in A flight, Bev Townsend with 22 in B and Marilyn Collins with 29 in C.
