WNBA: Moore, Liberty put out Sparks
Loree Moore had 20 points and a career-high six steals to lead the New York Liberty to an 80-68 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday night in Los Angeles.
Shameka Christon added 13 points and Ashley Battle had 11 points for the Liberty.
Marta Fernandez had 17 points and four assists for the Sparks, who shot a season-low 32.9 percent. LaToya Thomas added 12 points and Sidney Spencer had 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Liberty made six of their first seven shots in the second half to build a 50-38 advantage with 4:15 left in the third quarter, and led by as many as 18 points.
New York made five 3-pointers in the first 10:21 to build a 26-12 lead 1:12 into the second quarter.
Sky 92, Monarchs 84: At Sacramento, Calif., Jia Perkins had a career-high 39 points and 10 assists to lead Chicago to a victory over Sacramento.
Perkins, who averages 5.9 points and 1.2 assists, was 17 for 24 from the field in 48 minutes for the Sky.
Perkins had career highs in points, assists, and field goals.
Mystics 65, Shock 64: At Washington, Alana Beard’s three-point play with 13 seconds left capped a frenetic fourth-quarter rally during which the Mystics scored the game’s final nine points for a win over WNBA-leading Detroit.
Delisha Milton-Jones led Washington with 19 points.
Sun 72, Fever 67: At Uncasville, Conn., Katie Douglas scored 14 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter to help Connecticut beat Indiana.
Lindsay Whalen added 14 points and seven assists and Margo Dydek had eight points and 13 rebounds.
Connecticut missed its first 11 field-goal attempts.
Lynx 77, Silver Stars 66: At San Antonio, Seimone Augustus scored 29 points to lead Minnesota to a win over the Silver Stars.
Augustus was 12 for 19 from the field and made all five of her free throws to go along with nine rebounds.
Sophia Young led the Silver Stars with 17 points.
