Auditions

“Jack and the Beanstalk” – Theater Arts for Children, Sunday and Monday, 6:30 p.m. at the Spokane Valley Community Center, 10814 E. Broadway. Children ages 8-18 are needed. “Dusk” – Spokane Civic Theatre, March 12 and 13, 7 p.m. at the theater, 1020 N. Howard. Auditioners should prepare a one-minute contemporary monologue and be prepared to read cold from the script. Media Meet and Greet – Local artists and managers are invited to meet local media representatives and learn how to promote artists and special events, today, 3-6 p.m., at the Chase Gallery in Spokane City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. Call (509) 625-6050.

How to Photograph Your Work – The Spokane Art School is putting on this workshop for artists to learn how to shoot good slides and pictures, Saturday, 2-6 p.m. at the school, 920 N. Howard. Children’s Weaving class – Weaver Jean Korus will teach children in grades 3-6 how to weave on cardboard looms, March 10, 10 a.m.-noon at the Dahmen Barn, 419 N. Park Way, Uniontown, Wash. Call for writers

Creative Writing Competition – Sponsored by Spokane Youth for Christ. Junior high and high school students must write a 500-word essay on “By the time I’m 30, I hope…” Students may submit up to two entries by Friday at the City Life Youth Center, 1309 N. Ash. Writers Competition – The Coeur d’Alene Public Library’s 19th annual writing contest is seeking unpublished fiction and nonfiction prose of 2,000 words or less (no poetry). Writers age 6 and up may enter. A copy of the rules and an entry form are available at the library, 201 E. Idaho Prize for Poetry 2007 – The Lost Horse Press is accepting submissions of book-length poetry manuscripts for publication. Entries are due by May 15. s.m.Art by the River Festival of the Arts – The St. Maries Council for the Arts is looking for artists and handcrafters to submit applications for the annual festival in July. Applicants must include photos or images on CD. Art on the Green – Artists are invited to design a poster for this summer’s art show. Entries should be 12 inches by 16 inches, in finished form and unframed; leave space for lettering and a logo. The deadline is March 23. Entries may be brought to the Citizens’ Council for the Arts, 411 N. 15th St., Coeur d’Alene, or the Law Offices of Flammia and Solomon, 317 Wallace, Coeur d’Alene. Inland Crafts – Artist applications are being accepted for the annual juried exhibition at the Spokane Convention Center on Nov. 2-4. Interested artists must submit five representative digital files (no slides) and two optional (a booth or group shot and a detail), a one-page resume and a $15 fee by April 2. Historic Logos – Artists are invited to design logos for the Fort Russell Neighborhood Historic District and the Moscow Downtown Historic District, both in Moscow, Idaho. The logos will be used on signs, brochures and other promotional information. Submissions are due at the Moscow Historic Preservation Commission by April 2.
