Moscow comes up short in 4A
CALDWELL, Idaho – Shane Miller led all scorers with 19 points, but Moscow’s boys basketball team couldn’t overcome a poor shooting night as Skyview defeated the Bears 55-40 Friday in the semifinals of the State 4A tournament at Albertson’s College.
Moscow (16-9) will face Bishop Kelley, which lost to Burley 55-51, in the third-place game at 11 a.m. PST today.
Anthony Williams added 10 points, but only five players scored for Moscow and the Bears struggled through a 33 percent shooting performance from the field. Moscow was outrebounded 34-25 and made just 6 of 15 free throws, while Skyview converted 13 of its 15 attempts from the line. The Hawks also held a 20-9 advantage in points off turnovers.
Matt Ballenger scored 17 to lead three players in double figures for the Hawks. Andy Maxwell added 14 points and Leon Vasquez chipped in 12.
