State B Girls: Day 3 recap

The Spokesman-Review

Toutle Lake 49, DeSales 34

Unlikely sources and improved 3-point shooting paced the Ducks on their way to a victory over the Irish in consolation play.

Toutle Lake took a 22-9 lead into the locker room at half and held off an improved second half from DeSales (24-3).

Valerie Noble finished 4 for 5 from beyond the arc, leading the Ducks with 12 points and finishing with 10 points more than her average of two a game.

In their first-round game loss to Evergreen Lutheran, the Ducks were 0 for 15 from 3-point range. They improved in the second round, hitting four 3s and sending North Beach home with a 0-2 tournament record.

This time, Toutle Lake finished 8 for 22 from 3-point range and held all DeSales players to single-digit scoring.

The win over the team that eliminated them in the same game two years ago assures the Ducks (18-10) their fourth trophy in six appearances.
