The Greater Spokane League is king (and queen) of State 4A basketball.

The league produced an unprecedented two state championships Saturday night, and added a runner-up finish and a fourth-place trophy at the Tacoma Dome.

Ferris’ boys (29-0) became the 13th team in the tournament’s 85-year history to finish unbeaten with a 68-61 double-overtime win over Kentridge. The Saxons’ Deangelo Casto had 16 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots.

Behind Katelan Redmon’s 18 points, the Lewis and Clark girls (26-3) took their second consecutive title, defeating league rival University, 39-34. Mead’s girls finished fourth.

It is the first time three GSL girls teams have placed in the same basketball tournament and only the second time two teams from the league faced off in the final during a 20-year period that has produced 10 champs.

In other state finals involving local teams:

1A girls: Colfax rallied for its fourth straight title, defeating King’s, 31-28, as Kylie Shaw sank four free throws in the final 24 seconds.

2B boys: Northwest Christian defeated Wahkiakum, 46-38, behind Matt Zandbergen’s 13 points.
