Achievements: Troop 61 Scouts earn Eagle rank
“Jack Corbett and Matt Slagle, members of Troop 61 in Republic, Wash., have been awarded Eagle Scout status, the highest rank given in the Boy Scouts.
For his project Corbett, the son of Jane and Jim Corbett, organized the restoration of the Perry Wilderness Park Trail and built a new entrance sign.
Slagle, the son of Patty and Rob Slagle, did repairs and improvements to the Republic Gun Range for his project.
Corbett and Slagle are students at Republic High School.
“Seaman recruit Garrett Lown recently graduated from Navy Air Traffic Control School in Pensacola, Fla. Lown, a 2005 graduate of University High School, is the son of Steve and Cindy Lown of Spokane.
“Phillip Choi of Mead High School has been selected as a candidate in the 2007 Presidential Scholars Program. Students are selected based on SAT or ACT scores, an essay and school recommendations. He is the son of Nam and Deborah Choi.
“The following students have been named to the first semester honor roll at Liberty High School.
