Operation ID event today at SCOPE

The Spokesman-Review

Parents will have the opportunity to get a digital photograph of their children at an Operation Family Identification event held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Trentwood SCOPE Station.

Operation Family ID involves a digital photograph and other identifying information being placed on a disk that parents keep, said Spokane Valley Police spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.

If the child ever goes missing, the disk provides a current description of the child to law enforcement investigators and for an Amber Alert, should one become appropriate.

Operation Family ID is a child safety program conducted by volunteers involved in SCOPE, the Sheriff’s Community Oriented Policing Effort. There is no cost to parents who wish to take advantage of the program.

The Trentwood SCOPE Station is in the Valley 206 Apartments, 2400 N. Wilbur Road, No. 79.

A second Operation Family ID event will be next Saturday at Trentwood SCOPE from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
