Big Horn Show opens this week
For the 47th year, the Big Horn Outdoor Adventure Show is bringing the buzz of hunting and fishing, plus entertainment and more to the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center starting this week.
The event, better known as the Big Horn Show, opens Thursday for a four-day run sponsored by the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council. The show includes big-game trophy scoring and other attractions for serious sportsmen as well as family members of all ages.
The council uses show profits locally and regionally for wildlife conservation, fishing enhancement and hunter safety education projects.
Outdoor equipment retailers bring their wares to the show, as well as guides and outfitters. The show is a convenient spot to touch bases with area sporting and conservation groups, although a few “regulars,” such as the Spokane Bird Dog Association and Spokane Fly Fishers have announced that they will not be displaying at the show this year.
A theater area is booked with programs, including fly-fishing and fly-casting seminars.
Adults and kids alike can catch trout at Fishing World or enjoy other hands-on activities at the air-rifle and archery ranges, the Laser Shot hunting situation simulator, the Silver Mine and more.
Hunters can bring their big-game mounts to Trophy Territory for display and official Boone and Crockett scoring.
