Information hounds who buy property or go house-shopping online will have a field day with a new product partly developed by Black Diamond Engineering in Sandpoint. With the help of a Boise company, the 17-person firm has developed a 3-D Web tool that adds extra layers of GIS data so buyers or sellers get a more vivid view of any property and its surroundings.

Tuesday

Students at Sandpoint High School opened their own branch of Horizon Credit Union.

Bulldog Branch is a fully operating branch of the credit union, and run by students.

“Premera Blue Cross has abandoned its legal appeals effort to convert to a for-profit health insurer.

The decision prompted the withdrawal of a lawsuit filed by the Washington State Hospital Association fighting the conversion.

Wednesday

Liberty Lake-based SprayCool Inc. announced it has gained $10 million in new funding, and cut 45 jobs, as the technology company ramps up high-end cooling solutions for commercial data centers.

“An aging and affluent population has created a national market for GarageTown USA.

Three years after the Coeur d’Alene company opened its first condominium storage project in North Idaho, the firm has expanded to five other states.

“Kaiser Aluminum Corp. has signed a five-year contract to supply aircraft-maker Bombardier Aerospace Corp.

“Netflix will open a small office in the Riverbend Commerce Park this spring to support its Spokane mail-sorting hub.

Thursday

After enduring the highest gas prices in the lower 48 states in October, Spokane residents were paying less for a regular gallon of gas than people in Seattle, Bellevue, Tri-Cities, Olympia, Tacoma and all other major Washington metropolitan areas.

Friday

Mid-level executives who live in Spokane enjoy a lower cost of living than they would in most other Western cities, according to a quarterly poll by the Council for Community and Economic Research.
