Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: The letter about placing eating utensils at the end of the buffet line reminds me of unnecessary lines at coffee urns. When using a coffee urn to serve a large group of people, place spoons, sweeteners and creamers on a table or counter apart from the urn. The coffee line can move along, and those people who drink their coffee “black” can get their coffee and get out of the way, to the benefit of all concerned. – W.N. Butler, Naples, Fla.

Dear Heloise: I occasionally have been searching stores for a certain item, like a comforter, curtains, etc., to match another fabric, carpet, etc. I carry a small swatch of the items I am trying to match. I place the swatches in a small sandwich bag and just drop it in my purse. When I see something I think is in the right color or price range, I can quickly compare it with the swatch. – Karen Cooke, Boerne, Texas
