Community update: Telethon will benefit band, strings concert
KHQ Television will host a telethon on Tuesday from 5 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. to raise money for the Band and Strings Spectacular concert. The telethon is being sponsored by KHQ, Windermere Realty and AmericanWest Bank.
The concert will be held at the Spokane Arena on May 8 at 7 p.m. and will be performed by 2,200 fifth- and sixth-grade band and string students from Spokane Public Schools.

Wishing Star Shred Day
From 5 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, DeVries Management Co. will be helping you protect yourself from identity theft and supporting the Wishing Star Foundation.
A shred bin will be at the corner of Pacific and Sherman. Instead of paying $5 a box to shred your items; DeVries is asking that a donation be made to Wishing Star.
Wishing Star grants wishes to local children with life-threatening illnesses.

Lakeland High School benefit
On Saturday, Lakeland High School in Rathdrum, Idaho, is hosting an auction to raise money for the Lakeland Seniors’ All-Nighter Graduation Party.
The barbecue hamburger dinner will begin at 5 p.m., the silent auction will be from 5 to 6:30 and the live auction will begin at 6:30.
Items in the auctions include a Coeur d’Alene Resort stay and golf package, a 2006 Seahawks Super Bowl football and a Maltese puppy.
