Travis Edgerton drove in the game-winning run in the top of the eighth inning, as visiting Shadle Park edged University 5-4 in Wednesday’s Greater Spokane League play.

Billy Moon scattered eight hits and struck out six for the Titans (2-1, 2-1), who nearly saw Spencer Olsufka score the game-tying run in the bottom of the eighth, but he was thrown out at home by Kam Baker of the Highlanders (1-2, 1-2) to end the game.

Vinni Lupinacci knocked home Jackson Seaman with an infield single in the bottom of the eighth, giving host Coeur d’Alene a 2-1 win over Sandpoint (0-1, 0-1) in Inland Empire League play. Lupinacci battled to a 3-2 count with two outs in a 12-pitch at-bat before beating out a throw to first with a head-first dive, as Seaman made it to home plate from second base. Shea Vucinich came in for three innings of relief pitching to earn the win for the Vikings (7-0, 2-0), and starter Andy Seaman struck out four in four innings.

Softball

Molly Anderson had a pair of home runs and five RBIs, and Claire Pupa swatted a three-run homer, leading Gonzaga Prep (2-1, 2-1) past Lewis and Clark (0-4, 0-4) 9-0 in the GSL.

“Jenna DeLong fired eight strikeouts, as Coeur d’Alene throttled host Moscow 12-0 in the first game of an Inland Empire League doubleheader. In the second contest, Amber Coburn threw six strikeouts to earn the win and went 4 for 4 with seven RBIs, leading the Vikings (5-0, 3-0) past the Bears (0-2, 0-2).

Boys soccer

Rogers had all five players score and field player Admir Rasic moved to goaltender in the shootout, as the visiting Pirates (2-2, 1-1) edged North Central 2-1 in Greater Spokane League action. Luis Chevez opened the scoring for Rogers at 12 minutes with an assist from Tony Moua. Tyler Groom scored on a kick from just inside the 18-yard mark with 30 seconds remaining for the Indians (1-4, 0-2) to send it into overtime. … Elsewhere in the GSL, Sam Busby scored a pair of second-half goals to lead Central Valley past Mt. Spokane 3-1. Brandon Stevens also scored for the Bears (3-1, 1-1) in the physical second half. Nate McCloskey’s goal in the fourth minute was the lone goal for the Wildcats (0-4, 0-1). … Dino Valdez opened the scoring in the 12th minute and assisted on Cole Abramson’s goal at 30 minutes, as visiting East Valley thumped Shadle Park 4-0. Abramson also scored for the Knights (2-2, 2-0) in a contest that saw the Highlanders (2-3, 1-1) control the first 15 minutes before slowly wearing down. … Tim Doggett scored in the 66th minute, leading Mead past host Ferris 2-1. Doggett also assisted on Adrian Tarkington’s goal that gave the Panthers (5-0, 2-0) an early lead. Trevor Crain tied the game for the Saxons (3-1, 1-1) later in the first half. … Peter Dunau’s unassisted goal in the 76th minute marked the winner in visiting Lewis and Clark’s (3-2, 1-1) 2-1 win over University (2-3, 1-1).
