Achievements: Pair receive Bronze Star

Master Sgt. Henry Stroisch of Colville and Tech. Sgt. Michael Frady of Spokane were awarded Bronze Star medals for distinguished service while deployed to Iraq. Both are members of the Washington Air National Guard Logistic Readiness Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base.

“2nd Lt. C. Scott Carlson of Spokane was awarded the Navy-Marine Achievement Medal for his leadership while under deployment to Iraq. Carlson is a 2001 Gonzaga Prep graduate and the son of Chris and Marcia Carlson of Spokane.

“Air National Guard Airman Nicholas Ward has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Ward is the son of Lou Ann Ward of Spokane and is a 2004 graduate of Central Valley High School.

“Army National Guard Pvt. Adam Gorham has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky.

He graduated from University High School in 2005.

“Air Force civilian Eli Whitman has been named the 428th Air Base Group Civilian of the Year and part of the 428th Air Base Group Team of the Year – 426th Air Base Squadron Services Flight.

He is the son of Don and Diane Whitman of Pullman. Whitman graduated from Pullman High School in 1992 and Eastern Washington University in 1995.

“Army Pfc. Brian Roscoe Jr. has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

He is the son of Brian Roscoe of Buchanan, Mich., and Kelly Roscoe of Spokane. Roscoe is a 1999 graduate of Berrien Springs High School in Michigan.

“Cadet Ross Hartmann was named to the fall semester 2006 dean’s list at the U.S. Military Academy. Hartmann is the son of Mark and Brenda Hartmann of Wallace. He graduated from Wallace High School in 2006.

“Boston University recently named three Spokane residents to the fall 2006 dean’s list. The students are Rebecca Anderson, Gabriela McQuade and Danielle Stevens.

Laura Ring of Spokane was named to Vanderbilt University’s 2006 fall dean’s list.

Amanda Breckenridge of Veradale was named to Carroll College’s fall 2006 dean’s list.

Bryan Garner of Rathdrum, Idaho, was named to the University of Montana’s fall 2006 dean’s list.

Christa Zinke of Spokane was named to the 2006 fall dean’s list for Northeastern University.

Tessa Leach of Spokane was recently named to Benedictine College’s president’s list for fall semester 2006.

Emily Tremaine of Spokane was named to the fall 2006 dean’s list for Clark University.

Ian Wagner of Reardan, Wash., was named to North Iowa Area Community College’s dean’s list for fall 2006.

Tami McGoldrick of Spokane was awarded a Testbook Scholarship for the 2006-2007 academic year. It is funded by the Unitarian Universalistic Church. She is the daughter of George and Connie McGoldrick, Spokane, and a 1999 graduate of Ferris High School.

Audrey Townsend of Spokane was recently awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in education from Washington State University. Townsend graduated from Central Valley High School in 1994. She is the daughter of John and Monika Townsend, Spokane.

Monique Dugaw, a senior in the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University, was awarded high honors from American Women in Radio and Television.

Kayla McGahey of Spokane Valley was named to State University of New York’s fall 2006 dean’s list.

“Artist Gloria de los Santos, Kettle Falls, Wash., was chosen for the Boise State Women’s Center Women’s History Month National Juried Exhibition for the second year in February. The artwork will be displayed through March.

“North Idaho College awarded the following nursing students $500 scholarships by the Kootenai-Benewah Medical Alliance: Michelle Gerdes and Carol Bear, both of Rathdrum, Idaho; Ann Ealy, Coeur d’Alene; Debby Mongeau, Hayden, Idaho; Sean Pitt and JoJo Glisson, both of Post Falls; and Juliane May, Fairchild Air Force Base.

Janel Dudley of Spokane was chosen as one of the Bright Futures Champions by the Washington Bright Futures Initiative.

Heather Keast, Spokane Falls Community College English instructor, was awarded the 2006 Lisa Ede Outstanding Teacher Award by the Pacific Northwest Regional Two-Year College English Association.

Jennifer Edwards of Spokane was named to Stephens College’s dean’s list for the first semester of the 2006-2007 academic year. Edwards is a graduate of Mead High School.
