Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: This is a reply to the pet peeve about address labels from charities. The reader said she didn’t like them and wished the companies would quit sending them.

Some people pay bills online and do not write letters. However, many people don’t have a computer and still pay bills by mail, and many of us write letters – letters of congratulations, thanks, caring and friendship. We use our labels and enjoy them.

We are thankful for the labels because they save time and trouble, plus they are attractive.

Thank you for your suggestion to send them back and tell the charity to take your name off the mailing list. Another suggestion that I use is to call the 800 number that is usually provided to request that my name be removed. With no 800 number, you can send a card. – A Reader, Delhi, La.

That pet peeve seemed to have hit a chord with a lot of readers. Heloise
