Alyssa Rienland hit a three-run triple in the fifth inning Tuesday, powering East Valley past visiting Ferris (0-6) 8-2 in Greater Spokane League action.
The Knights (2-4) scored five runs in the fifth to take an 8-1 lead.
Echo Abramson (1-4) picked up the win for East Valley after allowing one run on two hits while striking out five.
Elsewhere in the GSL, Melanie Mobley and Katie Kine both went 3 for 4 with four RBIs as Mead hammered visiting Gonzaga Prep (3-3) 15-5 in five innings. Mobley, who picked up the win, ended the game with a solo home run in the fifth. Cassie Shanholtzer was 3 for 3 and knocked in five runs for the Panthers (5-2). … Shelby Vethel allowed no runs on three hits while striking out 13 as University (5-2) whipped visiting Rogers (1-5) 10-0 in five innings. Michelle Wells was 3 for 3 with three RBIs for the Titans. … Shadle Park’s game at North Central was rained out and rescheduled for 4 p.m. today.

Megan Hill was 3 for 3 with three runs scored for the Tigers (3-2, 1-0). … Elsewhere in the IML, Cate Johnson hit a three-run home run in the fifth as St. Maries topped host Priest River (1-6, 0-1) 13-4. Kayla Stapleton earned the win for the Lumberjacks (1-0, 1-0).

Senior Mark Purser went 2 for 4 with five RBIs, including a three-run home run in the second, as Mt. Spokane topped visiting East Valley (2-4) 13-3 in six innings in the Greater Spokane League. Paul Smith pitched the complete game for the Wildcats (5-1), allowing three runs on five hits while striking out five. … The other GSL games scheduled for Tuesday were postponed by rain. Lewis and Clark at Ferris, Central Valley at Mead, and Rogers at Shadle Park were rescheduled for today at 3:30 p.m. No makeup date has been set for Gonzaga Prep’s game at North Central.
“Zach Clanton‘s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth gave Lake City a 5-4 win over visiting Sandpoint in Inland Empire League play. The Bulldogs (0-4, 0-2) committed four errors and were limited to three hits. Danny Griffon picked up the win for the Timberwolves (5-1, 1-0). … Also in the league, Lakeland’s game at Coeur d’Alene was rained out and rescheduled for 4 p.m. Friday.

Justin Lobdell’s goal in the 53rd minute broke a 1-all tie and gave Deer Park (3-3, 3-2) a 2-1 Great Northern League victory over visiting Riverside (4-2, 4-1). Matt Dougherty scored the Stags’ first goal in the third minute. … In other GNL action, Mitch Weller had two goals and an assist as Cheney (8-0, 5-0) shut out host Lakeside (1-0, 1-0) 5-0 at Nine Mile Falls. The Blackhawks dominated the action, outshooting the Eagles 23-7. Cheney has not allowed a goal in its past seven games. … Kyle Kinard’s goal in the 14th minute gave Pullman (5-1, 5-1) a 1-0 win over visiting Medical Lake (3-4, 2-4). Daniel Melvin made 10 saves for the Cardinals, who were outshot 11-6. … Bryer Reynolds, Craig Nelson and Derek Corchaine scored two goals apiece as West Valley blanked visiting Chewelah (1-6, 0-6) 7-0. Chad Florance added a goal and an assist for the Eagles (2-5, 2-2), who outshot the Cougars 20-7.
